Choosing a dentist
How to choose a dental implant dentist in Stamford, CT
Implants are a long-term decision, so the dentist matters as much as the treatment. Here is what to look for, and what you will find at our Stamford office.

Why your choice of dentist matters
An implant is surgery followed by a custom restoration, and it is meant to stay in your mouth for many years. The planning, the skill of the surgeon and the follow-up care all affect how it turns out. That makes it worth taking your time before you pick a dentist.
Be cautious of any ad or article, ours included, that simply declares one dentist the winner. A better approach is to know what to check and decide for yourself.
What to look for
- Surgical training. Ask how much of the dentist's education and daily work centers on implants.
- Imaging. Good planning starts with a 3D scan of the bone, not a guess from a flat X-ray.
- Honest options. You should hear about every reasonable choice, including bridges, dentures or saving the natural tooth.
- Written costs. A clear estimate before treatment, with insurance and payment plans explained.
- Follow-up. Implants need regular checks after the crown is placed. Ask how that works.
- Comfort. A team that takes your anxiety seriously makes a long treatment far easier.
Questions to ask at a consultation
Bring a short list. Good questions include: How many implants like mine do you place? Will I need a bone graft? What happens if I am not a candidate? Who places the implant, and who makes the crown? What is the full timeline and the full cost?
A dentist who welcomes these questions and answers them plainly is a good sign.

Planning for the cost
Our Stamford office offers a $150 new patient special that includes a thorough cleaning, a comprehensive exam and digital X-rays, and every office offers new patients a complimentary consultation. Cherry payment plans with 0% financing for 12 to 18 months are available to qualified applicants. Offers and eligibility are confirmed by the office, and insurance cannot be combined with the specials. Details are on our insurance and financing page.
Signs that should slow you down
Step back if a dentist pushes you to decide the same day, will not explain why a treatment is needed, or cannot tell you the full cost in writing. Implants are rarely an emergency, and you are allowed to take a few days to think. A plan you understand is a plan you can trust.
Take your time
Meet more than one dentist if you want to. A consultation is a good way to see how a dentist communicates, and you should leave it understanding your plan, not feeling pressured by it.
